Senior Cosmetic Formulation Chemist

Our client, a prestigious name in the beauty and wellness industry, is seeking an innovative Senior Cosmetic Formulation Chemist to join their fully remote team. This role is instrumental in the creation and development of cutting-edge cosmetic and personal care products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cosmetic chemistry, formulation science, ingredient technology, and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for conceptualizing new product ideas, conducting rigorous laboratory testing, and ensuring the efficacy, safety, and marketability of our client's formulations.

Responsibilities: Develop and formulate new cosmetic and personal care products, including skincare, haircare, and color cosmetics. Conduct extensive bench formulation work, optimizing product performance, stability, and aesthetic properties. Research and evaluate new raw materials, ingredients, and technologies to enhance product innovation. Design and execute stability studies, compatibility testing, and performance evaluations under various conditions. Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and regulatory affairs teams to align product development with market trends and compliance requirements. Troubleshoot formulation challenges and identify solutions to optimize existing products. Ensure all formulations meet safety, efficacy, and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, INCI). Prepare detailed formulation documentation, including ingredient lists, manufacturing procedures, and cost analyses. Stay informed about global cosmetic regulations, industry trends, and competitor product innovations. Mentor junior chemists and provide technical guidance on formulation development. Work closely with manufacturing and quality control teams to ensure successful scale-up and commercialization of products. Maintain a well-organized and safe laboratory environment. Qualifications: Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation and product development. Deep understanding of cosmetic ingredients, their functions, and interactions. Proficiency in performing various analytical tests and stability studies relevant to cosmetic products. Knowledge of cosmetic manufacturing processes and scale-up challenges. Familiarity with global cosmetic regulations and safety assessment procedures. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
