An editorial hair stylist creates avant-garde, high-fashion, and conceptual hairstyles for magazines, photo shoots, runway shows, and advertising campaigns. Unlike salon stylists, they focus on artistic, creative, and often temporary looks, collaborating closely with photographers and fashion designers to tell a visual story.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• On-Set Styling: Designing hair for, and maintaining it during, photoshoots and fashion shows.
• Collaboration: Working with creative directors, photographers, and makeup artists to achieve a specific aesthetic.
• Versatility: Creating diverse, often avant-garde styles that fit specific themes.
• Efficiency: Working quickly to change styles between shots.

Skills & Qualifications

• Advanced Techniques: Expertise in hair styling, including working with wigs, extensions, and various hair textures.
• Portfolio Development: A curated portfolio showcasing editorial work is essential for securing jobs.
• Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
• Industry Knowledge: Staying current with, and often setting, high-fashion trends.
• Licensure: A cosmetology license is generally required.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
