Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Natural Hair Care Professional located in Chicago, IL. This role is part of a grant-funded workforce initiative and focuses on delivering high-quality natural hair services while maintaining professional and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities include providing a wide range of natural hair care services such as client consultations, styling, braiding, twisting, loc maintenance, and treatments tailored to individual client needs. The role also involves offering personalized hair care recommendations, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and staying current with natural hair care trends and techniques.

Professionals are expected to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all clients, assist with appointment management, and ensure a consistently positive client experience.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in natural hair care techniques, including styling, braiding, twisting, loc maintenance, and treatments
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide effective client consultations and excellent customer service
• Knowledge of hair products, tools, and maintenance practices across diverse hair textures and types
• Ability to stay current with natural hair care trends and apply creative solutions to meet client needs
• Active IDFPR license in a beauty profession (required)
• Prior experience in a salon or professional hair care environment (preferred)
• Passion for natural hair care and commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive experience for clients
• Reliability, professionalism, and ability to follow workforce program guidelines

This position is funded through a workforce development grant and is time-limited based on program funding and performance requirements.
