Senior Makeup Artist

Matte & Dewey is a one-of-a-kind makeup bar reimagining how people experience makeup. Think a blowout bar—but for makeup. We specialize in routine-ready skin, clean technique, and consistent, polished results delivered in under 40 minutes. Our work is elevated, modern, and built for getting makeup done a habit.

We’re building a roster of Senior Freelance Makeup Artists to work exclusively in our makeup bar.

The Role

• Freelance / on-call (hourly, half-day, full-day shifts)
• In-studio only — no on-location work
• Compensation: $50/hour + tips
• Use of Matte & Dewey’s professional makeup kit
• No retail sales or product quotas

What You’ll Do

• Deliver makeup looks from a curated menu within standard service times
• Perform advanced foundation shade-matching and mixology
• Work confidently with cream and liquid formulas for natural, real-world finishes
• Recreate consistent, brand-approved looks (see our website mattedewey.com)
• Maintain exceptional hygiene, sanitation, and guest experience standards
• Support smooth service flow and consistency across the makeup bar

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years professional makeup experience (freelance, retail, studio, or set)
• Strong experience with high-end/pro brands including: Danessa Myricks, Viseart, Charlotte Tilbury, Hourglass, Fenty Beauty, Makeup by Mario, RCMA
• Advanced complexion and skin-focused artistry
• Efficient, detail-oriented, and calm under time constraints
• Reliable, professional, and flexible availability
• Located near Hermosa Beach (preferred) or within a 30 minute drive
• Sfx experience, a plus

What This Role Is Not

• Not custom artistry outside of our curated service menu
• Not use of your own tools and kit
