Job Description
Program Overview
The ILIA Brand Internship Program is a three-month immersive program created for students or early career professionals passionate about the beauty industry. This program offers hands-on exposure to the intersection of brand events, partnerships, and merch creation, helping to build a foundational understanding of how these elements work together to maintain ILIA’s overall brand identity.
Key Objectives
- Develop a well-rounded understanding of ILIA’s brand pillars and visual identity
- Gain a deep understanding of how modern beauty brands build equity through visual identity, storytelling, and consumer touchpoints.
- Learn how different departments (Brand, Creative, Product, PR, Retail, Social, Operations) work together to bring brand moments to life, while developing the communication and workflow skills essential for effective cross-team collaboration
- Develop a working knowledge of event production, sample management, and physical brand expression.
- Learn how brand identity is translated across formats—events, partnerships, merch, packaging, storytelling, and visual design.
- Gain familiarity with industry tools and workflows (e.g., asset management systems, production timelines, event logistics, reporting frameworks).
- Receive mentorship and guidance in navigating career paths in brand, creative, or experiential marketing.
Program Structure
The internship will last for three months, offering participants a part-time commitment (<30 hours per week - (2) 8-hour days or (4) 4-hour days). Interns will engage in structured learning and hands-on projects that cover essential aspects of the Brand team.
Month 1: Foundations of Brand Development
Responsibilities
- Become familiar with ILIA’s brand story, mission, and overall brand identity
- Review past brand activations and partnerships to gain a full understanding of the 360 brand view
- Assist in building brand decks for upcoming brand initiatives
- Research the beauty landscape and emerging trends, conducting competitive analyses to inform brand strategy.
- Shadow team in project coordination across brand partnerships, activations, and merch initiatives by observing internal workflows and attending meetings
- Shadow team in managing warehouse product orders
Learning Outcomes
- Develop an understanding of how strategic brand identity shapes narrative direction, visual design, and the end-to-end consumer experience
- Develop foundational knowledge of how brand perception is built across multiple channels
- Develop a holistic understanding of the beauty industry, including category dynamics, competitor strategies, and emerging trends, to strengthen
Month 2: Cross-Functional Collaboration
Responsibilities
- Assist with coordination across brand partnerships, activations or merch projects (including with external agencies/vendors)
- Work closely with Marketing & Creative teams to ensure cohesiveness across projects
- Participate in internal meetings to prepare recaps and follow-ups for project leads
- Assist with placing product orders via warehouse
Learning Outcomes
- Learn to manage communication across multiple internal departments as well as external stakeholders
- Develop a clear understanding of how cross-functional collaboration ensures brand consistency across all touchpoints
- Strengthen communication and organizational skills through active participation in meetings and follow-up coordination
- Gain experience managing timelines and deliverables across internal teams and external partners.
Month 3: Execution & Development
Responsibilities
- Assist in management of operational aspects of events, including timelines, shipping logistics and run-of-show documents
- Help manage event recap performance via Traackr platform
- Help provide trend analysis and competitor report across markets to inform brand strategy (inclusive of events, merch, and partnerships)
- Ensure cross-functional partners are set up for success in executing brand partnership go-to-market plans through clear communication, timelines, and alignment.
- Support the omni-channel process to ensure key deadlines are met and the team stays on track.
Learning Outcomes
- Gain hands-on experience in event operations, including timeline management, logistics coordination, and production documentation
- Learn how to evaluate event success and influencer impact through various KPIs
- Develop analytical skills by interpreting competitive insights and trend data to inform future brand strategy
- Develop strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills, gaining an understanding of how to align multiple teams to execute seamless brand partnership launches from planning through execution.
- Strengthen organization, time management, and scheduling skills by supporting cross-functional workflows and ensuring key deadlines are met within the omni-channel process.
Program Support
Interns will receive guidance and mentorship from their manager and team throughout the internship. The program will include opportunities for networking, professional development workshops, and regular feedback sessions to foster personal and career growth.
End of Program Evaluation
Complete an end-of-program competitive brand analysis project by selecting one beauty brand and evaluating how they break through the market, the key tactics they employ, how their strategies have evolved over time, and presenting insights and recommendations to the team
